What Is a Motor Starter Panel?
A starter panel is the most basic type of motor control panel. It houses the starter and associated controls for an electric motor. The Motor starter panel may also include a circuit breaker to protect the motor from overload.
A motor starter is designed to start motors based on their starting requirements and ratings such as
- High starting speed
- Low torque
- Slow starting speed
- High torque
- Combinations of above or time variants based on the connected loads
A typical motor starter would consist of incoming power either (Single or three phase) connected to a protection system such as fuse block or a circuit breaker with or without locking option, contactor switchgear.
The control elements of a Motor starter can include selector switches such as Auto/ Manual, Local / Remote and push buttons such as Motor Start/ Stop and Pilot indicators for the status.
